§ 01Services

Schedule of Services

Eleven service lines across three divisions. Each entry states the scope we take on and what is included, so a quotation request does not start with a guessing game.

§ 01Facilities & Infrastructure

Roads, Grounds, Plant & Fabric

The contracting division. Delivered directly by MSSG under the group contract.

S-01Pothole repair, patching, shoulder work and routine road reserve upkeep.

Road Maintenance

We take on routine and reactive road maintenance for municipalities, provincial departments and private estates. Work covers pothole patching, edge break and shoulder repair, crack sealing, and the day-to-day upkeep of the road reserve. Every deployment is planned around traffic accommodation first: cones, signage and taper set out before a tool comes off the truck, because a maintenance contract that creates a safety incident has failed regardless of the finish quality.

Scope Includes

  • Pothole excavation, priming and patching
  • Edge break and shoulder reinstatement
  • Crack sealing and surface repair
  • Traffic accommodation and signage
  • Site clearance and disposal
Pothole repair, patching, shoulder work and routine road reserve upkeep.

S-02Scheduled verge cutting, grounds maintenance and vegetation control.

Grass Cutting & Vegetation Management

Grounds and verge maintenance on a scheduled cycle, sized to the property rather than sold as a fixed package. This covers road reserve and verge cutting, institutional grounds, industrial yards and open municipal land, including brushcutting around obstacles that ride-on equipment cannot reach. We work to a cut register so a facilities manager can see what was cut, when, and by whom, which matters when a schedule is queried months later.

Scope Includes

  • Scheduled verge and road reserve cutting
  • Institutional and industrial grounds upkeep
  • Brushcutting and edge trimming
  • Alien and invasive vegetation clearing
  • Arisings removal and site clean-up
Scheduled verge cutting, grounds maintenance and vegetation control.
FIG. 02 — VERGE CUTTING, INSTITUTIONAL GROUNDS
S-03Standby generator servicing, load testing and reactive repair.

Generator Maintenance & Servicing

Standby plant only earns its cost if it starts under load on the day it is needed. We carry out scheduled servicing on diesel standby generators — oil, filters, coolant, belts, battery condition and fuel system — along with load testing, fault finding and reactive repair. Each service is closed out with a written condition report noting hours run, consumables replaced and any component approaching end of life, so budget holders are not surprised.

Scope Includes

  • Scheduled service to running-hour intervals
  • Oil, filter, coolant and belt replacement
  • Battery and starting system testing
  • Load testing and transfer switch checks
  • Fault finding and reactive repair
  • Written condition report per service
Standby generator servicing, load testing and reactive repair.
FIG. 03 — STANDBY GENERATOR SERVICE
S-04Distribution board work, reticulation, lighting and fault finding.

Electrical Maintenance & Installations

Electrical maintenance and installation across commercial, institutional and industrial premises: distribution board work, circuit additions and alterations, lighting installation and replacement, socket and reticulation work, and fault finding on existing installations. Work that requires a Certificate of Compliance is carried out and signed off under a registered installation electrician, and we will say so plainly at quoting stage rather than after the fact.

Scope Includes

  • Distribution board repair and modification
  • Circuit alterations and additions
  • Lighting installation, replacement and retrofits
  • Socket outlets and small power reticulation
  • Fault finding and remedial work
  • Certificate of Compliance where applicable
Distribution board work, reticulation, lighting and fault finding.
FIG. 04 — DISTRIBUTION BOARD, TESTING IN PROGRESS
S-05Planned and reactive building fabric repair across a property portfolio.

General Building Maintenance

Planned and reactive maintenance on the building fabric, handled as a single point of contract so a facilities manager is not coordinating five trades. Typical work covers plumbing repair, carpentry and joinery, painting and surface preparation, roof and gutter repair, ceiling and partition work, and making good after other trades. Suited to property portfolios, schools, clinics and commercial parks that need one contactable contractor for a running list of small work.

Scope Includes

  • Plumbing repair and replacement
  • Carpentry, joinery and door furniture
  • Painting and surface preparation
  • Roof, gutter and rainwater goods repair
  • Ceiling, partition and drywall work
  • Making good and snag list clearing
Planned and reactive building fabric repair across a property portfolio.

Software, Supply, Cabling & Support

Delivered through MSSG IT Services at it.mssg.co.za.

S-06Hardware supply, structured cabling, network installation and support.

IT Supply & IT Services

Delivered through MSSG IT Services. Hardware and consumable supply against departmental specification, structured cabling and network installation, switch and access point deployment, workstation setup and rollout, and ongoing support arrangements. The division exists because IT tender line items are frequently written by people who need a supplier that can both quote to specification and physically do the installation, rather than one that drop-ships a box and leaves.

Scope Includes

  • Hardware and consumable supply to specification
  • Structured cabling and patch panel installation
  • Network switch and wireless deployment
  • Workstation build, rollout and migration
  • Ongoing support and maintenance arrangements
Hardware supply, structured cabling, network installation and support.
FIG. 06 — STRUCTURED CABLING, NETWORK CABINET
S-06BCustom development, licensing and supply, deployment and contract specialists.

Software & Professional Services

Delivered through MSSG IT Services. Custom software development for government departments, banks, retail groups and large private organisations — internal workflow and case management systems, reporting layers and integration between systems that were never designed to talk to each other. Alongside development we supply and license software including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 and endpoint protection such as Kaspersky, handle estate-wide installation and configuration, and place developers, analysts, testers and administrators into client teams on contract under a resource augmentation or professional services line item.

Scope Includes

  • Custom application and systems development
  • System integration and reporting layers
  • Software supply and licence management
  • Estate-wide installation, imaging and rollout
  • Developer and specialist resource augmentation
  • Technical screening before client interview
Custom development, licensing and supply, deployment and contract specialists.

Shutters, CCTV, Alarms & Automation

Delivered through our subsidiary SteelGuard Mzansi at steelguard.mssg.co.za.

S-07Manufacture, installation, service and repair of steel roller shutters.

Roller Shutter Doors

Delivered through SteelGuard Mzansi. We manufacture roller shutter doors rather than only reselling them, which means openings are measured and made to size, and replacement slats, barrels and springs are available for repair work instead of writing off a door. Covers retail shopfronts, industrial loading bays, storerooms and garages, with installation and an ongoing service and repair capability behind it.

Scope Includes

  • Manufacture to measured opening size
  • Retail shopfront and industrial installation
  • Barrel, spring and slat replacement
  • Emergency and forced-entry damage repair
  • Scheduled servicing and adjustment
Manufacture, installation, service and repair of steel roller shutters.

S-08Camera system design, installation, remote viewing and fault repair.

CCTV Installation & Repair

Delivered through SteelGuard Mzansi. Camera systems specified around what the client actually needs to see — entrances, tills, yards, perimeters — rather than a fixed camera count. Installation includes recorder setup, storage sizing to the required retention period, remote viewing configuration and neat conduit and cable management. We also take on repair and extension of existing systems, including recorder faults and cameras that were never commissioned properly.

Scope Includes

  • Site survey and camera placement planning
  • Camera, recorder and storage installation
  • Remote viewing setup on phone and desktop
  • Existing system repair, extension and upgrade
  • Cable management and conduit installation
Camera system design, installation, remote viewing and fault repair.
FIG. 08 — EXTERNAL CAMERA INSTALLATION
S-09Alarm installation, sensor placement, repair and system upgrade.

Alarm Systems

Delivered through SteelGuard Mzansi. Intruder alarm installation for homes and business premises, with sensor placement planned around how the building is actually used so the system gets armed instead of bypassed. Covers control panel and keypad installation, motion and door contact sensors, outdoor sirens, panic facilities, and repair or replacement of older systems that no longer arm reliably.

Scope Includes

  • Control panel and keypad installation
  • Motion sensor and door contact placement
  • Outdoor siren and strobe installation
  • Panic button and duress facilities
  • Existing system repair and zone re-programming
Alarm installation, sensor placement, repair and system upgrade.
FIG. 09 — ALARM PANEL, TERMINATION IN PROGRESS
S-10Gate motors, garage doors, booms, intercoms and access control.

Automation

Delivered through SteelGuard Mzansi. Automation of gates, garage doors and vehicle booms, plus intercom and access control installation. Work includes motor supply and fitting, safety beam installation, remote and keypad setup, and battery backup so the gate still opens during load shedding. We also service and repair existing automation, which is frequently a worn rack, a dead battery or a mis-set limit rather than a failed motor.

Scope Includes

  • Sliding and swing gate motor installation
  • Garage door and boom automation
  • Safety beams and anti-crush protection
  • Intercom and keypad access control
  • Battery backup for power interruptions
  • Service and repair of existing automation
